AIZAWL, FEB 16: Lt Gen N K Singh, AVSM, VSM, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 3 Corps on Tuesday said termed Mizoram as a model for peace and development in the North East region. N K Singh was on a visit to Aizawl on Tuesday to review the security situation of Mizoram and
the arrangements for border guarding in light of its geo-strategic importance.
Following briefing at the HQ Mizoram Range Assam Rifles, the GOC interacted with Mizoram Governor, Lt Gen MM Lakhera.
This is his third visit to the state in his present appointment, but he had served here as a young army major earlier.
"It is his love and fascination for Mizoram that has brought him back for the third time in the last six months", officials from the army revealed.
N K Singh also took time out of his busy schedule to meet veterans and ex servicemen from Mizoram.
Being an accomplished soldier, this visit by the GOC has bolstered the morale of Assam Rifles troops in Mizoram and will further strengthen the bonds between the people of Mizoram and Assam Rifles.
Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles had done many remarkable things in Mizoram other than organising various medical camps even in remote places. They had built public toilets, sanitation as part of civic action plan. The military personnel also served a a notable help during disasters, burning of houses and land slides.
