Headmaster sells out aided school in Ccpur village

Imphal, March 17: Chairman of Lhunthulian village Ralkapthuom in Churachandpur district alleged the headmaster of government aided school in the village had sold out the materials of the structures of the school after dismantling for meeting his own expenditure.

In an interaction with some reporters on March 14 last at the village located in the interior part of the district, the village chief, Ralkapthuom revealed that the headmaster Thanghongvel had dismantled the structures of the UJB School in the village run with the grant-in aid of the government during the month of January last.

The headmaster sold out the GI (Galvanized Iron) sheet of the school building at Rs 8500, woods use in the construction of the buildings at Rs 400 and the kitchen set constructed under the Mid-Day-Meal programme at Rs 2500.

The village authority had also lodged complaint with the DI and ZEO (Zonal Education Office) of the district in the first month of the current month, March, but no action so far taken up, Ralkapthuom said expressing doubt of hands of the DI and ZEO in the selling of the school buildings by the headmaster.

The headmaster, Thangkhongvel further donated the land of the school to a church. However, the construction of the church is yet to begin as objections came up when the matter was brought up in a meeting called by the village authority.

Meanwhile, it is said that classes in the school had not been conducted since last year session even though there were three teachers.
