RBI seeks banking services in all villages by March 2012

BANGALORE, March 22: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday asked banks to draw a roadmap to provide financial services to all villages with a population of over 2,000 by March 2012. "The lead bank in each district has been asked to draw a roadmap by this month for ensuring that all villages with a population of over 2,000 will have access to financial services through a banking outlet, not necessarily a bank branch, by March 2012," RBI Governor D Subbarao said here. Air Supply coming to Shillong
 

SHILLONG, March 22: International rock band Air Supply will perform in Shillong on May 14 as part of its India tour apart from live performances in New Delhi and Bangalore.
The capital of Meghalaya, known for its passion for western music, has emerged as a "hot" destination for international music bands with recent performances by Petra, Fire House and Michael Learns to Rock (MLTR). "We are finally going to tour India. All that wonderful food and fantastic people, I cannot wait", said English vocalist and guitarist of the band Graham Russel on their official website. Australian Russel Hitchcok was the leading vocalist of the two-member band. Before moving to Shillong, the band would perform in New Delhi on May 11 and May 12 in Bangalore. (Agencies)
