CM visiting CCpur, Ukhrul: Security tightened up

Imphal, April 12 2010:
Elaborate security arrangement has been made for the Chief Minister's visit to Churachandpur in view of the bandh and other disturbances that are likely to come up in the wake of objection to the ADC election.

Additional police personnel for deployment at the function sites have been called out from Thoubal and Bishnupur district, a highly placed official source said adding that IG (Law and Order-II), Christopher is the overall in-charge of the security deployment.

He will be assisted by IG, L&O-III Shantikumar.

Chief Minister, O Ibobi is visiting Churachandpur and Ukhrul district tomorrow to attend public functions at the district headquarters.

He will be lifted by helicopter.

The chief minister is scheduled to land at Churachandpur first and lay the foundation stones for the construction of two buildings of Mini Secretariat of the district at Horticulture Farm and near the Peace Ground.

He will also inaugurate the Local Radio Station of AIR Churachandpur, office buildings of ADC and Additional Deputy Commissioner of the district at Tuibong there.

A public meeting at Peace Ground will be held as per the tentative schedule of the Chief Minister's tour programme.

After the public meeting there, the Chief Minister will take the chopper flight to Ukhrul district where he will lay the foundation stone of the District Sports Complex at Ukhrul district headquarter, the source informed.



Bandh called off


IMPHAL. April 12: The propose bandh called by JAC 2009 DPC /ADC Teachers tomorrow ie Tuesday has been called off when the minister power gave an assurances that the DPC result will be declared well before the MDC Election notification .

Talking to the Medias on the sidelines of the inauguration today the minister has said without declaring the result no MDC Election will be conducted.

At the same occasion the JAC Chairman Lalno meet the press and decled the proposed bandh has been cancelled as the govt gave an assurances to concede with their demands.(IFP)
