SHILLONG, APR 8 (PTI): India has proposed coordinated operations with the security forces of Myanmar against the insurgents based there, a top official of Union Home ministry said. "The operations will be parallel and coordinated. We will take action on our side, they will act on their side," Joint Secretary Naveen Verma said on the sidelines of a joint
Secretary-level meeting with a top Myanmarese delegation, including senior Army and government officials of the country.
"Information on the militants taking shelter there has been shared. They have shared information with us," he said.
Claiming that the response from the Myanmarese delegation has been "positive", Verma said, "They have to take approvals at various levels. We have shared our concerns and they have taken note of it."
The intelligence sharing agreement inked last year with Myanmar has been activated and security personnel of both the countries have been interacting regularly, he said.
"Regular meeting at various levels, including superintendents of police, are being held between both the countries at different points of time," he said.
Insurgents of banned groups like ULFA, NSCN and some from Manipur reportedly have camps in Myanmar, mostly in the jungles bordering China.
The 8-member Myanmarese delegation was led by Director General of Myanmar Ministry of Home Affairs U Mayatko and the Indian delegation included representatives of the four NE states bordering Myanmar.
