MoU signed to form a Joint Venture Company for implementation of 1500 MW Tipaimukh Hydroelectric (Multipurpose) Project

A MOU has been signed amongst NHPC Limited, Government of Manipur and SJVN Limited for formation of a Joint Venture Company for implementation of 1500 MW Tipaimukh Hydroelectric (Multipurpose) Project in Manipur.  NHPC Limited, SJVN Limited and Govt. of Manipur shall have a share holding of 69%, 26% and 5% respectively.

 

The MoU was signed by Shri S. K. Garg, CMD, NHPC, Shri H.K. Sharma, CMD, SJVN Limited and Shri L.P. Gonmei, Principal Secretary (Power), Govt. of Manipur on 28th April 2010 at New Delhi.

 

The 1500 MW Tipaimukh Hydroelectric (Multipurpose) Project is located in Churachandpur district of Manipur.  The project is conceived as a multipurpose storage project with main objective of hydropower generation alongwith flood moderation of downstream area.  The project is estimated to generate 3800 Million Units of electricity per annum and likely completion period is seven and a half years from CCEA clearance.
