IMPHAL, Jun 17: The Chief Engineer of BRO's Project Sewak today visited Tuivel Bridge on Guite Road that has been in a dilapidated condition for the past several years, reports our CCpur corres- pondent. Brigadier Balraj Singh's visit to Guite Road was the first ever since this route was handed over to the BRO early this year.
'We are here to help the Govt. We are not against it, but with them,' he said in an apparent reference to the war of words. Talking to this correspondent, the Dimapur based Brigadier said it will take some more time for his personnel to restore the Bailey bridge as spare parts have to be shifted from as far as Jammu and West Bengal. Nevertheless he assured ZEPADA officials who also call on him that the BRO would sincerely work to restore the highway that connects the state with Mizoram. On their part ZEPADA's representative appeal to the CE to repair the bridge on war footing and even suggest airlifting of the crucial parts. They also recommended a realignment of the road stretch to save avoidable travel hour.
