Cash flow affected by shortage at UBI Ccpur

From M Kaimuanthang
Lamka, Jun 3(IFP): Due to shortage of hard cash at the United Bank of India, UBI, Churachandpur Branch since the past 1/2 days many who wanted to withdraw their money in big amounts of money could not enchash either from the State Bank of India, SBI, or the UBI.

The SBI ATM has also remained closed as a result and many regular customers are facing untold problems.

The United Bank of India, UBI/Churachandpur being a chest branch is the only competent bank to demand monthly requirement from RBI well in advance of the whole amount required by existing banks in Churachandpur each month and make neccessary arrangements.

According to sources, this has not been the case with the UBI and many times it has failed to procure hard cash from the concern authorities/appropriate levels of authorities with the result that many who bank their money at either SBI or UBI Churachandpur branch are unable to withdraw their money as and when they require.

Lalthara, CS resumes duty

Kohima, June 3 (MExN): After being on leave for a week due to demise of his mother Laithangpuii (92), Lalthara, Chief Secretary of Nagaland has resumed his duty on June 2. His mother passed away on May 24, 2010 due to lung failure at Aizawl and funeral was held at Reiek village on May 25, 2010 where her mortal remains was laid to rest alongside her husband, Ngama's grave in the village graveyard. It is said that Laithangpuii, mother of Lalthara was the one and only mother who gave birth to three IAS officers.

As per the trend the Chest branch status has been given to the UBI due to which monthly hard cash required for banks at Churachandpur has to be brought by it and then deposited first with the UBI from where it has to be given to all other banks may be SBI or Canara and so on, sources said.

Another source said the UBI authortities here had never acted on time so as to ensure money is procured for the banks and then disseminated to other bank branches.

Concerned about this unneccessay problem, the SBI manager had written to UBI top brass officials based at Shillong, Guwahati and even to the DC of Churachandpur but no follow up action seems to have been taken and the problems persist till date.

Earlier, while talking to the UBI officials IFP has been informed that monthly demands are always prepared but this has not been possible sometimes due to non availability of security forces to escort to Churachandpur adding sometimes the already arranged security were sent to other places for the same purpose.
