ATSUM demands Edn Minister's resignation

By Hueiyen News Service

Imphal, June 30: All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) termed the controversy arising out of the publication of the result of Primary School and Hindi teachers under Education (S) Department as most unfortunate and demanded resignation of Education Minister L Jayentakumar.

In a press release issued today, Assistant General Secretary of ATSUM, Robert Leivon demanded the resignation of Education Minister, L Jayentakumar on moral ground until the matter is brought to its logical conclusion.
ATSUM warned that it will not remain as a mute spectator on the issue. The state government should come out with its official position within one week from today.

It also doubted the efficacy of high level probe ordered by the government in the matter as long as the Minister concerned is in the office. It is only an exercise to cover up the misdeeds of the higher-ups.

Robert Leivon further said that ATSUM also supports DESAM's demand for a thorough investigation into the controversy by an independent House Committee. It further warned that ATSUM will be constrained to launch mass agitation if the matter is not resolved within the stipulated one week's time.
