Central forces on NH 39 in Nagaland withdrawn

Imphal, July 10 2010: The Central security forces, CRPF and Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force (ITBPF), deployed within the Nagaland section of the NH-39 have been withdrawn few days back apparently failure to resume vehicular traffic of Manipur bound vehicles.

It may be recalled that around a week back, there were reports of Union ministry of home affairs asking the Manipur government that they could withdraw the Central forces from deploying on NH-39 if vehicles are not be ply on the highway.

No security personnel seen conducting day and night ROP on the stretch said a driver of a truck plying the NH-39 in ferrying the goods from Dimapur to Imphal said requesting anonymity.

But he added no any kinds of harassment received from any sides while taking the route.

Like the driver, many other trucks are secretly taking the route in procuring goods in the state despite the warning of untoward incidents on them by the agitating TDC.

The collection of various "illegal taxes" like annual vehicle tax, godown tax, road tax, good tax, etc.

are also going on unabated in Dimapur town from the truckers by the underground organisations including those maintaining ceasefire trust with the government forces.

However, Central security forces, BSF and CRPF deploying in the state section of the NH-39 from Mao to Sapermaina in Senapati district are still deploying.

With their day and night duty on the stretch, freight vehicles from Imphal and Dimapur are traveling at the night time too without any apprehensions.

Meanwhile, intelligence sources has aware the government that hill base underground groups under ceasefire with government forces are likely to start their extortion activities on the NH-53 too in the near future.
