IMPHAL, July 30: The Manipur government is in the process of recruiting 318 lecturers and 48 laboratory attendants on contract basis for the 34 government run higher secondary schools in the state.
The contract lecturers will enjoy a consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 4500 while the contract laboratory attendants will get a consolidated monthly pay of Rs. 2550.
According to a notification dated July 25, this is in pursuance of the decisions taken by the state Cabinet in its meeting held on January 8 and January 10 and July 1, 2008 regarding opening of science & commerce streams in Classes XI and XII.

The notification said the appointments will strictly be on renewable contract basis, initially for one year. The appointments will also be strictly school specific and against the payment of the monthly fixed remuneration as indicated against each post.
The notification said as per the finance department office manual, no documents apart from the standard contract agreement shall be made available to the appointee.
It further said screening committee meeting for the recruitment of the named lecturers and lab attendants will as far as possible be held in the concerned school premises itself.
It further said the screening committee will examine the suitability of the candidates by taking into account their educational qualifications and eligibility as per the relevant recruitment rules. Preference would also be given to local candidates it added.
In the cases of computer science & engineering drawing, weightage will be given to performance in interviews. The recruitment shall also be by the recruitment rules prescribed by the CBSE, it said.
The notification also said wide publicity of these posts will precede the meeting of the screening committee.
The screening committee, it said, shall submit its recommendations to the commissioner (education/school) bu August 10, 2009, for its subsequent approval, and the final signing of contract.
A separate order of the governent also listed the schools in which these new departments would be opened.(IFP)
