Lamka May 5: As many as 13 candidates who have filed their nomination to contest the MDC election schedule to be on the 26 May have withdrawn their candidacy today.
Among those who withdrew include one NCP candidates namely Chinsuanlam from Muallum , one CPI from Thanlon in the persons of Thangkap , and rest are from Independent candidates .
The independent candidates are Kammuanpau and Nehkhanthang from Muallum, Hausuanthang and Haumang from Singngat , Tualzakap from Thanlon , Songkhankhup from Ngazam , Khaikhomang from Lanva , Nengsuanmang from Hiangtam Lamka.
In addition Khokai and Paukholian trying to contest from Haopi areas have withdrawn their candidacy while from New Lamka East Vungkhojam an independent candidates have also step down from contesting.
In the backdrop of this development it is worth to mention that in Lungthul constituency Mr Suanchinpau an INC candidate will have no one to contend with as most of his would be rivals have beaten retreat and naturally is the winner.(IFP)
