Students’ body asks VC to leave Mizoram

AIZAWL, MAY 5: Mizoram's apex students' body, Mizo Students' Union (MSU) has demanded Vice Chancellor of the Mizoram Univerity Prof. AN Rai to step down from his office and leave Mizoram as soon as possible. The development cropped up after the controversy over the recruitment of teachers at the varsity. The students' body also asked Mizoram

 University Registrar Benjamina to leave his job. The Reistrar faces the same level of allegation with the Vice Chancellor.
MSU also accused Rai of adopting new procedure on the recruitment of teachers. 
In a conference on Saturday, MSU cited that the students' body is deeply pained by the way the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar at the Mizoram University function. The students' body alleged that favoritism for non-Mizo candidates against  Mizo candidates has been practiced by the duo.
Meanwhile, Mizoram Chief Secretary Vanhela Pachuau had earlier asked Mizo Students' Union (MSU) leaders not to act in "coercive manner" with regards to the ongoing recruitment in the Mizoram University.
Pachuau also expressed his view that the ongoing recruitment of teachers in Mizoram University is to be conducted in line with the existing norms and regulations of the University.  (Newmai News Network)
