Survey begins to open up Guite Road

IMPHAL, May 15(IFP): A ministerial team led by state works minister K Ranjit along with education minister Y Jeyentakumar and MLA Bijoy Koijam,  Prithiviraj MLA Moirang along with the officials of the state PWD department have left Imphal to overview condition of the Guite road connecting Mizoram through which state government is planning to bring in essential items to the state.

The visit of the ministerial team along this route is part of the government strategy to open up an alternate route for the transportation of the essential items into the state considering the frequent paralyses of national highways 39 and 53 on account of blockades and bandhs.

According to an official source, the visit of the ministerial team along with the government officials will monitor the existing road condition in between Thanlon and Boyalkhai village today and the same team will continue their survey of the road condition from Tuivai to Sinzawl connecting Mizoram tomorrow.

On the other hand, the ministerial team was accompanied by heavy security escorts are optimistic the road along the southern part of the state could be used for bringing back several goods laden trucks, oil tankers and bullet vehicles carrying LPG.
The minister were accompanied by 1st class contractor GS Haupu , and a host of officials from the ministers department concern.

The ministerial team who took the Tipaimukh road (NH 150) in their up journey will stayput tonight at Sinzawl and on their down journey tommorrow will follow the Guite and take a halt at so many points on the way and marked out the areas will be repaired.

The team set off after lunch at the residents of GS Haupu located at Lailam veng.
