Mizoram CM Lal Thanhawla turns 72

Aizawl, May 19 (NNN): Mizoram Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla turns 72 today.  A celebration function was organised at Chief Minister Conference Hall today attended by well wishers in which the chief minister cut a birthday cake amidst huge applaused from the gatherings.  Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh also wished Lal Thanhawla on his 72nd birthday this morning through telephone.
The prime minister during his telephonic conversation with the chief minister wished for his successful life in future. Manmohan Singh  also hoped that under the able leadership of Lal Thanhawla, Mizoram will be a transparency government, free of corruption and good administration. The Prime Minister then wished the people of Mizoram to have covetous development in every angle through Congress ministry in the Centre and the state.
The chief minister on his part felt priviledged and expressed his gratitude on the Prime Minister's words and promised to work even harder to fullfil his aims of making Mizoram a better place. He also thanked Manmohan Singh for his support over New Land Use Policy (NLUP), the  flagship programme of the Congress government in Mizoram.
Meanwhile, at the third meeting of New Land Use Policy (NLUP)'s apex board today in Aizawl, Lal Thanhawla  said that the NLUP is a remarkable programme aimed at creating new means of livelihood for people in rural areas through Government support thereby ushering in development at an accelarated pace.
He added that the NLUP programme is not only aimed at generating new avenues of employment but also can go a long way in eradicating jhum cultivation, minimising deforestation, mitigating environmental degradation and conservation of the rich flora and fauna of the state.
